Lawrence Andrea is the Washington, D.C. correspondent for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He is based in Washington, where he covers Congress and the White House with a focus on Wisconsin.
He spends most of his days in the halls of the Capitol writing about the state’s congressional delegation. He has also covered multiple congressional and presidential campaigns.
Before moving to D.C., he led the police, crime and breaking news beat for the Indianapolis Star.
Lawrence previously reported from Greece for the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. His assignment focused on the refugee situation in the country and explored post-asylum life for refugees in the region.
His last article for the assignment published in National Geographic in January 2022.
Lawrence graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2020 with degrees in journalism, Classical Studies and photography. He also studied Arabic. Lawrence interned for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and WisPolitics and worked with PolitiFact while in college.
His work has appeared in USA Today, Yahoo, National Geographic, PolitiFact and Balkan Insight. He has been referenced in the Associated Press, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Sports Illustrated, Rolling Stone and more.
